Yesterday I went to get a foot reflexology massage in Singapore’s China Town. I was out for a beer with my friend Robert Jekel and Aurélie. My expectations weren’t too high (well, it’s Singapore’s China Town after all), but I guess which better day could there have been than Friday 13th to kick back and relax after a hard day at work? I have to say: I was glad I tried! The S$18.- for the half hour were totally worth it, and in the end I didn’t even care about paying anymore…
So here’s what the nice Chinese lady told me about myself:
And you know what, after 30 minutes I felt really relaxed, and at night I had a really good sleep. This has definitely not been my last foot reflexology massage of my life…
I took a trip to the Indonesian island of Bintan. And although at first the weather seemed to not quite be willing to play along, it ended up to be a tremendous weekend…
Aurélie, Caroline, Ambroise and I left at 6am to catch the ferry to Bintan. The weather in Singapore at departure: Rain! The weather in Bintan at arrival 90 minutes later: Storm! Our captain had to take 3 approaches before he managed to land the ferry. But our mood was already good and it got even better as we took a cab half way across the island. Our target: Shaddy Shack…
Check back here to find out whether we really ended up there…
Real World by Matchbox Twenty
I wonder what its like to be the rainmaker
I wonder what its like to know that I made the rain
Id store it in boxes with little yellow tags on everyone
And you can come and see them when im…done, when Im done
I wonder what its like to be a super hero
I wonder where Id go if I could fly around downtown
From some other planet, I get this funky high on yellow sun
Boy I bet my friends will be…stunned, theyre stunned
(chorus)
Straight up, what did you hope to learn about here
If I were someone else, would this all fall apart
Strange, where were you, when we started this gig,
I wish the real world, would just stop hassling me
I wonder what its like to be the head honcho
I wonder what Id do if they all did just what I said
Id shout out an order, I think were out of this man get me some
Boy dont make me wanna change my…tone, my tone
(chorus)
Please dont change, please dont break
The only thing that seems to work at all is you
Please dont change, at all from me
To you, and you to me
(chorus)
Meet Edward, our friendly neighbour at 38 Kheam Hock Road. He doesn’t show up often, but he sure is always “on top of things”. Entertaining the entire neighbourhood with his croaking is his passion. I hope you’re gonna stick around for a bit, dude!
